I agree that Appium is a very inspired and powerful solution in itself, but neither Appium nor Selenium (for web testing) are test automation tools. For the typical test automation team (and not only) I would recommend using a full featured tool that encapsulates Appium/Selenium, like OpenTest (https://getopentest.org).
